Changing the investor password on MT5

An Investor Password in MetaTrader 5 (MT5) is a read-only login that allows someone to view your trading account without being able to make any trades.

There are 2 different methods to change the investor password.

Option 1 via MT5 Terminal
  1. Open your MT5 Terminal.

  2. Go to Tools > Options > Server tab.

  3. Click on Change next to the password field.

  4. In the window that appears:

    • Enter your current master password.

    • Check the box “Change investor (read only) password”.

    • Enter your new investor password and confirm it.

Option 2 via Navigator Panel
  1. Open your MT5 Terminal and ensure you're logged into your trading account.
  2. In the Navigator panel, right-click on your account name and select "Change Password."
  3. Right click on your account and click change password
  4. In the window that appears:

    • Enter your current master password.
    • Check the box “Change investor (read only) password”.
    • Enter your new investor password and confirm it.

What’s it for?

  • To share your trading performance with others, such as potential investors or followers.
  • To allow third parties, like mentors or account managers, to track your activity.
  • In copy trading setups, it serves as verification or proof of your trading history.
